CONSCIOUS ALTERNATIVE BEAUTY

MAKE-UP ARTISTRY AND PHOTOGRAPHY

Indigo has specialised in both styling and photography since beginning to work and study in fashion, loving to create expressive looks with bold prints and colour; as well as drawing inspiration from subcultures and historical references. What Indigo is most successful with is taking a concept and using it to a create continuous new ideas and then building on the right one until she achieves the best outcome. Indigo prides herself for her skill with colour and tone to create mood and evoke thoughts and feelings. Whether it's through photography, styling or make-up.

Indigo has a range of work experience within the fashion industry already meaning she can apply the knowledge and skills learnt from both her degree and real world experience to any future work. Indigo is confident with both a digital and film camera, as well as Adobe software, office software and both Mac and Windows.

During her (BA) Fashion Communication she realised her love and talent for make-up and body art. She began to take courses in fashion makeup with DFMA and character makeup with CMS at Pinewood Studios, Indigo also started gaining experience on film sets and photoshoots as a make-up artist and assisting. This enabled her to let the creativity and research within her degree be expressed through make-up, both conceptual and literal; Indigo is a skilled photographer, makeup artist and stylist from her range of experience and education, as well as experimenting with collage and illustration by combining photography and expressive drawing techniques.

Researching areas of fashion, history, beauty, music and the arts inspires Indigo's creative practice. She hopes to reach out to all people, inspire empathy and respect among everyone, largely due to the catastrophic journey our society and planet has been travelling along. Indigo hopes to create visually pleasing yet contextually rich work that can be applied to many sectors of human life; whether it's to raise awareness to inequality, sustainability, or to be shown through art, makeup and fashion. To decrease the divide there is between the ‘artist’ and the norm, as Indigo believes that the world of art and beauty can enrich all aspects of normal life.

The avant-garde is what drew her to make-up, seeing the expressive looks within fashion photography, film and cinema will forever inspire her creative work and she hopes her work will inspire new artists like her. Colour theory is also a crucial aspect within Indigo's work, often following the science and art of colour theory.

Throughout her (MA) Makeup and Hair Design Futures, Indigo concentrated on futuristic design within beauty, that could improve the lives of the vulnerable and those that are often treated without equality. This lead to a specialism in sensory wellness, and immersive wellness experiences. Her final masters project focused on research in sensory experiences that could improve wellness, these experiences could be completed by almost everyone, anywhere for free. This is important to Indigo as she believes there is a huge problem with mental and physical health issues around the world, with many people unable to receive the help they deserve and need. The wellness industry is now worth trillions globally, but many people feel unable to tap into this world, Indigo believes if her research could be distributed widely and experienced many people could improve their health and happiness. She continues to visually communicate her research and ideas through makeup, photography and other artistic mediums like sculpture and collage. Within the MA, Indigo has also experimented with sound and moving image. Indigo would like to work within the education sector as well as her work with Seeds of Colour, a new sustainable makeup brand, and eventually complete a PhD in sensory wellness.
